Italian Senate adopts resolution on Belarus

The resolution on human rights in Belarus was submitted for consideration by senators of the nonviolent Radical Party.

In case the ratification of an agreement between Italy and Belarus will be discussed, Radical senators proposed a resolution on human rights situation in Belarus and condemned systematic violations of political and civil rights by authorities in Belarus, “Human rights activists for free elections” inform.

The petition approved by the Italian Senate binds the Italian government to request the Council of Europe to urge the authorities of Belarus to impose moratorium on capital punishment, release political prisoners Mikalai Autukhovich and Uladzimir Asipenka, and to hold free and fair election on December 19, when the Belarusian nation is to choose the president.
