9

On February 23, judge of the Pershamaiski district of Minsk Tastyana Rеvinskaya delivered a sentence to businessman Andrei Ravinski.

Andrei Bandarenka got 6 years of imprisonment in a medium security penal colony with forfeiture of property. He was found guilty of stealing Br180 million by fraud, Radio Svaboda reports.

Though Bandarenka’s barrister Dzmitry Laeuski claimed during the pleadings guilt of his client in the case of stealing 180 million by fraud was unproved, the prosecutor asked 7 years of imprisonment with confiscation of property.

The court already sentenced the businessman to 7 years in prison before. But in December 2009, the Minsk city Court quashed it and ordered to reconsider the case.

The businessman pleaded not guilty and said the prosecution was a revenge on him after he ran in the 2008 parliamentary elections as a representative of the United Civil Party.
