Polish Embassy refused to comment on Lukashenka's boorish statement

After the tragedy flowers and candles are brought to the Polish Embassy in Minsk, while the official Minks hasn't showed diplomatic ethics.

The government agencies of Belarus do not inform about the composition of the oficial delegaton which is to take part in the ceremony of with President of Poland Lech Kaczynski who was killed in a plane crash near Smolensk, "Radio Svaboda" informs. Most likely, the delegation is to be headed by the chairman of the "council of republic" Barys Batura. The Foreign Ministry of Belarus informs that "it will be a high-level delegation".

The Embassy of Poland in Minsk says that the make-up of the Belarusian official delegation is yet to be made more specific. Charge d'Affaires Witold Jurasz has expressed gratitude to citizens of Belarus.

"We are very grateful to Belarusian citizens for their heartfelt support we recieve. Many flowers are laid near the Embassy and the Consulate, and we are thankful for that. Every assistance is provided for us in organisational issues, in flights of our planes with families and official delegations, and we are grateful for that. We are given consent for planes' flights immediately, without any hindrances," he stated.

Charge d'Affaires Witold Jurasz didn't comment on the statement of Alyaksandr Lukashenka concerning the reasons of the catastrophe of the Polish presidential plane.

"I would have some attitude to this statement only after hearing its recording. But as long as I haven't heard that, I simply cannot comment on it," he said.

We remind that Alyaksandr Lukashenka stated that the plane crash near Smolensk resulted from a wrong decision by the country’s top man. On April 15 "Interfax" quoted a source in the commission on the crach investigation. According to the source, a self-recording device was examined and there are no proofs that any of the high-ranking passengers insisted on landing the plane near Smolensk.

Has the statement of Alyaksandr Lukashenka met diplomatic ethics? A former Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Andrei Sannikov, the leader of "European Belarus" civil campaign Andrei Sannikov stated:

"I do not want to comment. It is a boorish statement, that's all. It is too disgustful even to comment on it".

The former candidate for presidency Alyaksandr Kazulin reminded that Belarus is the only neighbourng country of Poland which hasn't announced a mouring day.

"It is a significant detail in the attitude to the events. And then, nobody knows what in fact had been happening in the moment of the tragedy. Mister Lukashenka seems to judge the situation by himself and believes: if nobody can decide in the country except himself, this cannot be the other way anywhere. If he had something human, he would come to the Embassy. That's something inhuman".

The leader of the Social Democratic party (Narodnaya Hramada) Mikalai Statkevich noted:

"No matter what reasons for the tragedy are, it is none of the business of Belarusian leaders to blame anyone. Feelings of the brotherly nation should be respected, it is a real tragedy for them, no matter what had happened in the plane”.
