Belarusian interests of Lithuanian rich

4

Lithuania has taken an account of its homebred millionaires. Top-40 of rich men has been published by Veidas magazine.

Before the crisis out of their closest neighbours Lithuanian millionaires took a second position after Russians in the number of those present in the Belarusian economy. Experts of “Zavtra tvoej strany” have analyzed the new top created by Veidas from in the aspect of which persons mentioned in it have interests in Belarus.

The crisis has changed the rating considerably. Bankers Vladimir Romanov (UBIG) and Raimondas Baranauskas (Snoras) have not been put on the top list of the richest Lithuanians in 2010, for instance. The both have their interests in Belarus.

Vladimir Romanov once received several sites of building land in Minsk (near “Traktor” stadium, and in the micro districts Kammeny Loh and Loshytsa), and Snoras has its representative office in the capital of Belarus.

The richest person is Bronislovas Lubys (1,2 mlrd. Lt), a major shareholder of Achemos grupе. In May he headed the delegation of Lithuanian businessmen at the meeting with Alyaksandr Lukashenka.

The top ten, beside Lubys, this time includes Nerijus Numavičius (1,1 mlrd. Lt, Vilniaus prekybа), Darius Mockus (1 mlrd. Lt, MG Baltic), Augustinas and Artūras Rakauskas (726 mln. Lt, Senukai), Žilvinas Marcinkevičius (648 mln. Lt, Vilniaus prekybа), Dainus Dundulis (600 mln. Lt, , Rivonа), Vidmantas Kučinskas (525 mln. Lt, Arvi ir ko), Arūnas Martinkevičius (504 mln. Lt, SBA), Ramūnas Karbauskis (486 mln. Lt, Agrokoncernas), Nerijus Dagilis (323 mln. Lt, Hermis Capital).

Only brothers Rakauskas from the top ten of the list have maintained their business in Belarus and continue to develop it. It is a network of “OMA” construction materials supermarkets.

Two more businessmen from the top ten consider possibilities of entering the Belarusian market. While Darius Mockus has not made a final decision yet (he is interested in creation a network of ready-made shops in Belarus), cooperation with Vidmantas Kučinskas has been preliminary approved by some Belarusian agencies already. Arvi ir ko company plans to build a plant for manufacturing complex fertilizers in Belarus. Its partner in the project is to be Belaruskali.

A Lithuanian developer, owner of Hunner company Arvydas Avulis, who started a major project in Minsk before the crisis (reconstruction of Belarusfilm and building development of the territory by commercial real estate), despite of the crisis, is still on the list of Top-40 businessmen. He occupies the 26th position (98 mln. Lt).
