A 21-year-old student of Arts Academy in Poznan has demonstrated her vision of the situation in Belarus.

Celina Skrzebczak has pained about ten portraits of Alyaksandr Lukashenka, “adorning” his images with footprints of boots, red caviar and writing “Pravda” upside-down, udf.by website informs.

Paintings for exhibition in Minsk were transported through the border by Belarusian friends of Celina Skrzebczak. For the first time these paintings were exhibit in her Academy in the end of the academic year, and dedicated the exhibition to students who study on Poland thanks to Kalinouski programme. Then the idea to show them in Belarus emerged.

“People know little about the situation in Belarus. Apathy to what is going on the neighbouring country is observed. When I learned that in Belarus people cannot show emotions and discontent over the policy of the state openly, I decided not to be out of the swim. A sit is easier to paint than to say for me, such a series of paintings appeared. I do not like what is happening in Belarus under Lukashenka. My opinion is that the situation should be changed,” the painter believes.

Previously works by Celina Skrzebczak were displayed in Baranavichy. As it was impossible to organize an exhibition legally, the exhibition was showed in a private flat. In an hour the exhibition was visited by 300 viewers.

As informed by the website of the Young Front, the exhibition is put on view in the headquarters of the Belarusian Popular Front Party and will last till August 13.

Most likely, then paintings by Celina would be available in Vitsebsk and Moscow, where the exhibition would be held with the assistance of the Russian youth movement Oborona.

Celina is set to continue creating works about Belarus. She says that in her next series of works she wants to get rid of poster-like style her first works are characterized with.
