US call upon Belarusian authorities to investigate all circumstances of Byabenin’s death

The US representative to the OSCE urges the authorities of Belarus to meet its international commitments.

The US welcomes the pledge of the Prosecutor General’s Office in Belarus to study all possible causes of Aleh Byabenin’s death, stated Ambassador Ian Kelly, Chief of the US Mission to the OSCE yesterday.

It is in the interest of all parties that a full and transparent investigation be conducted, the US representatives said.

“We call upon the authorities in Belarus to make good on their pledge to carry out such a process into the circumstances of this sad and untimely death,” Ian Kelly noted.

On behalf of the US government he expressed condolences to the family, friends and colleagues of Aleh Byabenin.
