American artist Laurie Anderson appealed the Belarusians and the world community as part of a global campaign of solidarity with Belarus.
Laurie Anderson is an American singer, musician, poet, and actress. She was dubbed the queen of avant-garde in the late 1970-s.
By the middle of the 1970-s, she had become a constant participant of art festivals in America and Europe. She shared the stage with William Burroughs, Philip Glass, Timothy Leary, John Cage, and Allen Ginsberg.
Later, Laurie Anderson will be described as the most outstanding representative of “performance art”. The term appeared in the late 1970-s to describe performances that included video, music, photography, spoken word, and dance. Anderson’s innovative projects concerned not only poetry and music, but also inventing news musical instruments.
She is popular in different kinds of art: from modern music (14 albums recorded) to literature (some poetry and prose books); from visual art (video installations and performances that later became classics) to cinema (script writer and director, composed music to 10 movies, including The Wings of Desire by Wim Wenders). Andreson had roles in 16 films, playing herself in a half of them.
Such world’s most acclaimed musicians as Jean Michel Jarre and Peter Gabriel, Brian Eno and John Zorn, Lou Reed and Bobby McFerrin consider it an honour to collaborate with Lauire Anderson.
