Human Rights Watch calls on UN to condemn regime of Lukashenka

Human Rights Watch and 130 other human rights organizations call on the United Nations Human Rights Council (UNHRC) to adopt a resolution to condemn the abuses in Belarus.

“The government has created a serious human rights crisis in Belarus, and the UN Human Rights Council should not remain silent about it. A council resolution would send a strong message to the Belarus authorities that the ongoing crackdown must end,” Russian Director of Human Rights Watch Anna Sevortian said.

The appeal is timed to a UNHRC regular session starting its work on March 14.
