Total lawlessness of special services. How people are invited “for conversation” in Belarus

In a flat in Belski Street in Minsk policemen have beaten up and detained a dweller of Slutsk Vadzim Ramanau.

Representatives of law-enforcement agencies invited Vadzim Ramanau for conversations several times, as his mobile phone had been detected in the area of Independence Square were a protest rally took place on December 19. The young man refused to come, as he was busy at work and passing end-of semester exams.

On March 31 at about 9 p.m. Vadzim received a phone call to his home telephone in Minsk. He was invited to come to the police department on April 1 at 9.30 a.m. He agreed. In a few minutes there wsas a knock at the door, the Belarusian Helsinki Committee informs.

As said by Halina Isaeva, a girlfriend of Vadzim Ramanau, the door was almost burst open.”In 10 minutes we opened,” Halina said. “Two persons forced their way into the flat: one of them had a police uniform, the other was in black. They did not show IDs or presented themselves. They asked us to show our passports. “Where do you live? Where do you study? Who are you?” those people asked, when we asked on what grounds we should show our documents.”

As Halina told, the guests shuffled their belongings, looking for passports. Vadzim was beaten in front of her very eyes.”First the man in black kicked him in the stomach. Then they kicked him, stroke him down to the floor, put an armlock on him, and handcuffed him. They had not given him an opportunity to put on his shoes!” Halina said. “He took a phone covertly and called me from the police department. He said he was sitting on the bare floor in the corridor. Then the mobile phone was seized from him.”
