Poczobut: Not only me, you also live under a regime

One more letter from prison has been posted on the blog of Andrei Poczobut.

The letter has been published by the wife of the arrested journalist, Axana. Andrei writes that he has received a unique possibility to become a “guest” of the famous place where Syarhei Prytytski (Prytycki) had been imprisoned, and he is collecting materials for a “post-prison” journalistic story.

“I can hardly believe that, but an entire month has passed! It seems that just yesterday handcuffs snapped at my hands, and I was taken to prison from the prosecutor’s office… Time flies rapidly, much more rapidly than one is arrested for a few days. Prison life is monotonous, but it has its little pleasures. I receive very many letters from Poland, Belarus and even from Lithuania and Germany. It is like a breath of fresh air!

I have a cell in the 3rd floor of the remand prison, and on a lower floor the most famous prisoner of Hrodna prison, a Communist terrorist and firm Stalinist, Syarhei Prytytski, was serving his sentence in the 1930-ies. Back in 1980 I was a first form schoolboy in the school named after him. And now I have a unique opportunity “to guest” in the place famous for his deeds. :) Overall, I do not hang down my head, on the contrary. Belarus for a prisoner does not differ much from Belarus when one is free. The regime is everywhere: there were you are, and here too. J The only difference is that it is more concentrated here in prison. With great interest I’m collecting materials for my after-prison journalistic story, though it is to appear only in a few years, but I promise you that it would not become less interesting because of that.
