Syarhei Hudzilin got Press Photo Belarus - 2011 Grand Prix

The results of Press Photo Belarus 2011 were announced in the interior court of “Znyata” photostudio on May 13.

Initially the ceremony giving awards to the winners of the competition and demonstration of the winners’ works was planned in the Museum of Minsk history. However, after studying the works of the winners, the administration of the museum “was surprised by a low esthetic level of the pictures made by winners” and denied premises.

The Grand Prix was awarded to Syarhei Hudzilin for his picture “Everyday life”. The picture had been made on August 6, 2010 in the 60th signal regiment in Barysau.

The description to the photograph reads:

“Evening news broadcast viewing is compulsory for all soldiers. At 9 p.m. all compulsory-duty servicemen must watch “Panorama” newscast on the state-run TV channel this element of ideological upbringing of soldiers was used in the army of the Soviet Union as well, and it has been preserved in the Belarusian army, which considers itself a successor of the Soviet Armed Forces’ traditions.”
