Belarusian special services use Gestapo methods

Special services seized an activist of “European Belarus” Andrei Malchanau in the riser blocks of flats and handcuffed him to the radiator.

The raid targeting “European Belarus” civil campaign activists, which started yesterday morning, continued in the evening. For the second time a day Andrei Mouchan was detained. After a search at 7 a.m., detention and questioning in the police department of Maskouski district as a witness in the case related to the House of Justice’s arson, Andrei and two more activists were released. In a while the guy went to his friend Alyaksandr Valantsevich, but he was not at home. However, in the riser blocks of flats six special services men were waiting for him, Vyasna human rights centre informs.

As the human rights have found out, Andrei Mouchan was seized, handcuffed to the radiator. He was extorted a confession about whereabouts of his friend Alyaksandr Valantsevich. The young man answered that he had no idea. His passport and mobile phone were taken away. People in mufti threatened that they would throw the activist into the trunk and take him to the place where they would obtain the necessary evidence.

After name-calling and threats of “the peace-officers”, a neighbour ran out of her flat and took the side of the special services, insulting the guy. When the woman left, Andrei was told: “Now, if something would happen to this woman, we know whom to imprison.”

Then Andrei was released, but the mobile phone which was returned to him, was completely blocked. His family informed about this incident. Now they fear provocations both against Andrei and other supporters of “European Belarus”.
