Ales Mikhalevich, a former Belarusian presidential candidate, has been put on Interpol’s wanted list on request of Belarus.
Belsat learned it from Alyaksandr Lukashevich, the politician’s election agent at the latest presidential election.
“Ales Mikhalevich remains in the Czech Republic. He was to appear in the prosecutor’s office in connection with the Interpol’s request. Mikhalevich has a status of a political refugee, so extradition is not discussed. Summoning to the prosecutor’s office is a part of the judicial procedure,” Alyaksandr Lukashevich said.
Ales Mikhalevich ran for president at the latest presidential election. He was arrested and thrown in the KGB jail after the events on December 19. According to the politician, he was tortured in jail and forced to collaborate. After a press conference, where he described tortures and said he would not collaborate with KGB, Mikhalevich escaped from the country and was granted political asylum in the Czech Republic.
