El Pais: King phoned Europe’s last tyrant only to talk about FAO

The Spanish newspaper learnt why the King of Spain called Lukashenka.

As it was found out, the monarch made an attempt to save the candidature of Spain’s foreign minister Miguel Angel Moratinos for the post of Director-General of Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO). As the newspaper learnt from a representative of the Royal Palace, it was “one of 15 or 20 telephone calls made by the king” to help Moratinos, “Nasha Niva” cites El Pais.

The king seems to have phoned the leaders of the states that would support other candidates.

The paper notes that Lukashenka will use the call for propaganda and says that Lukashenka’s press service does not mention the main aim of the conversation.
