Syarhei Kavalenka weighs 55 kilograms

The political prisoner has been examined in the clinic Nr 9 in Minsk.

It has been said by the deputy chairman of the Conservative Christian Party Belarusian Popular Front Yury Belenki. As said by him, Kavalenka, who continued his hunger strike since mid-December with some breaks, had been examined by Professor Valyantsin Kurash.

“The following physical parameters have been documented: his weight is 55 kilograms, temperature 37.50 C, blood pressure 90/60.

Doctors of the clinic Nr 9 recommended Syarhei to stop the hunger strike and promised that he would be left in the hospital after that for after-care and transition from the hunger strike to a normal life under iatrical advice. However, Kavalenka refused to stop the hunger strike, as he does not trust doctors and policemen. As a result, he was returned to the remand prison in Valadarski Street again,” Belenki said to radio Svaboda.

On the same day, March 7, Syarhei Kavalenka was visited in Valadarski Street remand prison by his lawyer.

The meeting was held as a part of preparation to the consideration of case upon cassational appeal against the verdict to Kavalenka.

Syarhei Kavalenka was sentenced to 2 years and a month in a penal colony for hoisting a white-red-white flag on a New Year Tree in Vitsebsk.
