Russia continues selling TOR M2E missile systems to Belarus at discount prices

Russia plans to continue supplying TOR M2E air defence missile systems to Belarus in 2012 at reduced prices, Russian Minister of Defence Anatoly Serdyukov said.

“We will continue discount-price supplies of TOR M2E air defence missile systems in 2012 and deliveries of Russian-made weapons and military hardware to Belarusian security services," Serdyukov said after a meeting of the joint board of the Russian and Belarusian Defence Ministries in Minsk on Wednesday, Interfax reports.

He stressed “Belarus is the leader among the CIS states in the volume of purchases of Russian weapons and military hardware”.

“We plan to continue training Belarusian military personnel, including as part of no-fee programmes,” the Russian Defence Minister said.

According to him, the Russian Ministry of Defence praises the level of relations with the Belarusian Defence Ministry.

“We welcome Belarus's contribution to the development of the defence component of the Russia-Belarus Union and the CSTO,” Serdyukov said.

The Russian Defense Ministry, for its part, is “committed to further promoting integration processes in military affairs based on the principles of equality and mutual benefit,” Serdyukov said.
