Lithuanian MP not allowed in Belarus

A member of the Lithuanian Parliament, Kazimieras Uoka, was ordered to get off the train and return to Vilnius.

Kazimieras Uoka, who planned to take part in the public action organized by civil society organizations against the NPP construction in Belarus, was banned from entering the country, ru.DELFI reports.

He did not have a Belarusian visa, but the Embassy of Belarus told  him he could visit the country for one day with a diplomatic passport.

“I was ordered to get off the train on the border and take a train to Vilnius. I was told in the embassy I could pay a one-day visit to Belarus with a diplomatic passport,” the MP said on Monday.

Uoka was going to visit opponents of the NPP construction in Belarus last week.

The NPP is under construction in the Hrodna region 50 km from Vilnius.
