The Young Front activist, who raised a national white-red-white flag in Minsk yesterday, was detained and brutally beaten.
Raman Pratasevich, who hung out a white-red-white flag on the building opposite the central store department in the evening of May 16, was detained by riot police and spent several hours in a police station. As “Belorusski Partizan” learned, Raman was detained by 10 riot police officers, who beat him brutally (facial injuries, a limp and twisted arms). The special operation was carried out under command of Colonel Yauseyeu.
Under law, he cannot stand trial. 17-year-old Raman cannot be brought to administrative detention, because people under 18 cannot be thrown into a detention centre.
The country learned about Raman Pratasevich, then 16-year-old student of the Lyceum of the Belarusian National Technical University, in July 2011. Raman was expelled from the lyceum for taking part in a “silent revolution”. The boy had to leave his family due to differences in ideological views.
