From prison Young Front member was sent to army

From prison Mikhail Muski was taken under escort to the air defence missile unit near Lepel.

On May 15 he “was able to phone and inform that he was transported from the remand prison in Akrestsin Street (where he was to serve the term) to the military unit near Lepel”, the website of the organisations informs. In the village of Mezhytsa the 29th air defence missile unit is deployed, where Muski is to do his military service, BelaPAN informs.

In 2009 the activist was found unfit for military service because of high blood pressure. “In 2012, after a term for a performance in front of the Foreign Affairs Ministry, he was taken into a military hospital under police escort, to “confirm”, that he suddenly became fit for military service,” the report reads.

Among other activists of the Young Front, Muski was detained on April 26 after Chernobyl Way – 2012 demonstration finished. On the next day he was found guilty of petty hooliganism by the court of Savetski district and sentenced to 15 days’ arrest. The activist was to be released on May 11, however the court of Maskouski district sentenced him to 5 more days of arrest. A human rights activist Nasta Lojka expressed supposition that the new detention of Muski is related to his denial to do military service and demands of alternative service. On May 14 he was handed in a summons to appear at the military enlistment office.

Since the beginning of this year, Mustki has spent behind the bars about 50 days in total, the Young Front notes.

“Political draftees” who previously did military service in the air defence missile unit in Mezhytsa include Ivan Shyla and Ales Kalita, as well as Dzmitry Kanavalau, executed for the terrorist attack in Minsk metro.
