Teachers got instructions to smile to Kozik

Teachers were “asked” to smile and avoid complaints under threat of dismissal ahead of the visit of Kozik to the town of Mikashevichy.

A delegation from the Federation of Trade Unions of Belarus led by chairman Leanid Kozik visited Mikashevichy on May 16.

Leanid Kozik's visit Mikashevichy was not announced in press, but executives at enterprises and educational institutions of Mikashevichy were warned about the visit beforehand to give instructions to their personnel.

A school teacher, Nina, told to “Belorusskie regionalnye novosti”:

“It was a personnel meeting today. The head teacher told us about a visit of the trade union delegation and Belarusian television and asked us to smile and say we have no problems. No complaints or requests. The delegation will go away, but our problems remain. Those disobeying will be punished or even sacked, they said.”

Dwellers of Mikashevichy think the visit is connected with loud events at Granit factory. We remind more than 400 Granit factory workers were reported in early May to apply for resignation due to low wages. Later, factory chief engineer Eduard Haurylovich told BelaPAN the information wasn't true..
