Alyaksandr Antanovich, the head of the information and public relations department at the KGB, denied information published in former presidential candidate Ales Mikhalevich's article “Torture Technology”.
The politician wrote in his article a former KGB officer, who received political asylum in a EU country, presented him a workbook for the Belarusian National Security Institute, BelaPAN says.
According to Mikhalevich, the book contains a section “Methods of purposeful influence on a person”. “Torturing was the last but not the least in the list of methods,” he notes.
The former presidential candidate described tortures in his article.
Alyaksandr Antanovich said the information was “absolute fiction and fantasy”. The KGB representative said it may be regarded as libel causing damage to the agency.
“In this regard libel and lies will be evaluated from a legal point of view as actions on spreading information doing damage to business reputation of the KGB,” Antanovich said.
