Belarus is a leader in growth of prices

In January-April, Belarus became a leader in the Post-Soviet space in terms of consumer prices growth.

The prices rose here by 6.8%, which is evidenced by the analysis of data from the national statistical offices. The level of inflation in the self-proclaimed Dniester Moldavian Republic is the closest to that in Belarus - 6.6%. At the same time, prices were rising much slower in the recognized states.

Thus, Estonia's inflation rate was 2.4%, the one in Lithuania - 2.3%, Latvia - 2.2%, Armenia - 2.1%, Tajikistan - 1.9%, Russia - 1.8%, Kazakhstan - 1 7%, Moldova - 1.2%, Ukraine - 0.7%, Kyrgyzstan - 0.6%, Georgia - 0.5% and Azerbaijan - 0.1%, BelaPAN.

As for Uzbekistan and Turkmenistan, there’s information only for the first quarter of this year. Here, prices rose by 2.7% and decreased by 0.8%, respectively.

Belarus with 1.7% ranked first in the consumer prices growth in April. It is followed by Kazakhstan, Tajikistan (0.7%), Latvia, Lithuania (0.6%), Russia, Estonia (0.3%) and Moldova (0.2%). In Ukraine, the prices have not changed, while in Georgia - decreased by 0.03%, in Kyrgyzstan – by 0.2%, in Azerbaijan – 0.4% and in Armenia - 0.6%. Data for Turkmenistan and Uzbekistan are missing.

According to the predictions of the International Monetary Fund, the year-end inflation in Belarus will reach 38.4%, while GDP growth - 3%. At the same time Moody's experts believe that inflation may well be 30%.
