Is Peftsiyeu’s Beltech Holding to change its name?

Is Peftsiyeu’s Beltech Holding to change its name?

A source close to the military industrial complex of Belarus confirms the version about an attempt of the tycoon to turn away the blow of the EU sanctions from his companies.

Uladzimir Peftsiyeu (Vladimir Peftiev) had been placed on a travel ban list by Europe. In the EU documents Peftsiyeu is mentioned as “a person close to Lukashenka and his family, the chief economic advisor of Lukashenka and the key sponsor of Lukashenka’s regime, the chairman the council of shareholders of Beltechexport, the largest arms exporter and importer in Belarus.” Peftsiyeu is banned from visiting the EU, and his accounts and assets in the EU countries are to be frozen. His companies are prohibited to do business at the territory of the EU, TUT.BY reminds.

According to the source, close to the military and industrial complex of Belarus, by the change the ownership an attempt to draw Beltech Holding out of the EU sanctions.  “It is one of the first holding structures in Belarus. It includes about 10 companies, including BelTech Export FZE, “Systems of Investment and Innovations”,Technosoyuzpribor, Spetspriborservis, BelTech Optronics and others). Now, considering that the sanctions had been imposed on him, certain measures are taken,” the source informs. After the change of the owner, it is not exclude that other moves would be made, for instance, the name of the company changed.

The new name of the company’s owner also hints at withdrawal from sanctions. Information abot a Russian businessman Dmitry Gurinovich is absent in fact. It is only known that he is allegedly a member of the personnel reserve of the president of Russia. At the same time, the status of Gurinovich, as a Russian businessman, turns Beltech Holdig into a Russian business. And the source supposes that “it is possible that some statement is going to be made in the next few days after the meeting of the presidents of Belarus and Russia in Minsk.”

Beltechexport denied any comment on the matter.

It should be noted that recently Peftsiyeu publicly dissociated himself from Belarus. His structure BT Beltechcommunications ceased to be an investment agent of the Belarusian government. And Peftsiyeu himself has recently left the post of the chairman of the Belarusian Tennis Association. A source close to Peftsiyeu says that these decisions are related to the fact that “he spends a lot of time abroad. His family lives in Malta. And he has business in the United Arab Emirates.”
