Yet another opposition activist was brutally beaten by police.

Policemen detained Volha Pansevich, an activist of the Belarusian Christian Democracy Party from Slonim, on her way home and took her into a detention facility.

Policemen mocked Volha in the detention facility forcing her to adopt a stress position, throwing her on the ground and kicking her, the BCD press service reports.

Besides, a police report was drawn up against the activist for an offence she had allegedly committed. She refused to sign the document and does not know what the charge was. “It is most likely article 17.1 and  23.4 of the Code of Administrative Offences,” she noted.

The BCD activist recorded the signs of blows she received from police and filed a claim to a prosecutor's office. The claim was later re-sent to the Investigation Committee.

The Investigation Committee did not find elements of crime in the actions by policemen and the prosecutor's office sent an appeal to the investigation security department. Volha Pansevich wants an answer from the department now.

She says the trial will begin in Slonim at 10 am on Tuesday, June 5.

As charter97.org website reported earlier, European Belarus campaign activist Andrei Mauchan faced a similar situation. He was brutally beaten by police officers for a national white-red-white flag. They knocked down and kicked the opposition activist.
