Leading Lithuanian media not invited to press tour in Belarus

The list of the media published by BelTA news agency does not contain the most popular Internet portal and the largest Lithuanian newspaper.

Journalists of the First Baltic TV Channel, Litovskij Kurier weekly newspaper, Baltios TV and the information agencies BNS and ELTA  – all of them are Russian-language media – are on a press tour in Belarus on June 11-13, Euroradio reports.

“It is possible other leading media received invitations, but opted no to go. We did not receive an invitation, but we would have interested in it if it had been sent,” editor of ru.delfi.lt Oleg Jerofejev says. “Maybe less money is given for image-building activity now. Maybe they fear independent journalists will criticize what they will see and the press tour will fall short of hopes.”

Last time, DELFI was on a press tour. Editor's office of  Lietuvos Rytas daily says they don't have information about the event.

Journalists are expected to visit agro-farms and industrial enterprises, hold a round table discussion on cooperation prospects for Belarus and Lithuania. They will visit the construction site of the Belarusian nuclear power plant, which raises many concerns of Lithuania.
