Mahilou KGB spreads terror among opposition members

Law-enforcement officers hold preventive talks with democratic activists.

Activists are informed about responsibility for taking part in unsanctioned events, Viasna human rights centre reports.

“Policemen had a talk with a local Tell the Truth activist in Khotimsk (the Mahilou region) last week,” journalist Barys Vyrvich says. “He had to sign a document saying he was informed about responsibility for taking part in unsanctioned events.”

According to the journalist, an officer of the KGB department on Kastyukovichy talked to another activist of the campaign:

“The activist signed a paper saying he was warned about responsibility. It should be noted that actions by law-enforcement agencies to intimidate democratic activists bring results – the activists asked not to say their names. They are warned they will have to pay big fines if they are noticed in photos on the Internet in relation to street actions.
