Rubinau scares EU with stepping up relations with Russia

The Belarusian “parliament” intends to strengthen relations with Russia due to European sanctions.

“The West continues a policy of pressure on our country,” Anatoly Rubinau, the chairman of the upper house of the Belarusian “parliament”, said Friday in Minsk, Interfax news agency reports.

According to him, “The European politicians prepared an anti-Belarusian resolution, which is to be discussed at the 21st session of the OSCE Parliamentary Assembly in early July.” “Discussion of the Belarusian issue is expected to be completed in early July at a session of the UN Human Rights Council,” Rubinau continued. “This provocative activity demands us not only to be calm and self-possessed, but also to intensify and strengthen our activity on intergovernmental and international level. Stepping up relations with our strategic partner and ally, the Russian Federation, is a matter of principle for us,” Rybinau said.
