The dictator expects "the Syrian scenario"

Aliaxandar Lukashenka believes that such scenario is prepared for him from overseas.

The dictator has set the Armed Forces and the State Border Committee of Belarus the task to ensure the free declaration of will of citizens in a peaceful atmosphere and in strict accordance with the laws of the parliamentary elections, while preventing the recurrence of the Syrian scenario.

"In the autumn we will hold regular "parliamentary elections". This is exactly the time, when those who hate our Belarus and our status quo become active inside and outside of the country. Our task is to provide opportunity for free declaration of will of the citizens in a peaceful atmosphere and in strict accordance with Belarusian laws ", - said Aliaxandar Lukashenka at today's meeting.

"...We live in a known time," - wisely remarked Belarusian leader.

"The emergences of new geopolitical challenges, economic and political threats have become characteristic features of the modern world. In the context of globalization any negative trends spread very quickly, regardless of geographic boundaries. There are plenty of examples - this is the situation in the Middle East, in Syria, the pressure on Iran and others, "- explained Lukashenka, what “the known time" is known for.

"Traditional methods of warfare are being replaced by special methods, including informational and psychological operations and subversive actions. Well-trained extremist groups are most often involved in them. Under the patronage of numerous organizations, formally operating under the flag of spreading the democracy, are grown, consolidated and headed, in the right for foreign owners direction, internal destructive forces", - he continued.

"Such realties force the leadership of Belarus to monitor more closely the condition of national security and make operative decisions on key issues. This is especially important during political campaigns, when internal and external enemies become most active", - concluded Lukashenka.

In this regard, he demanded from the Secretary of Defense to report on the current status of the Belarusian army.

"We need to give a principled assessment of how its condition meets the modern requirements, what problematic issues in its modernization and development do we have, what ways of its solutions are the most suitable in the context of our economic resources etc. Specifically, a number of orders has been given to have a close look at the Belarusian army, reformed several years ago, because the situation - we see it on the examples of the Arab spring and Syria – now changes happen instantly, and the army should be adapted to this situation, if something will happen", - stated Lukashenka.
