Belarusian regime says no to EU programmes

Minsk finds unacceptable the conditions on working out joint programmes proposed by the European Union.

The statement was made in Minsk by Belarus's Ambassador to Belgium and Permanent Representative to the EU Andrei Yeudachenka.

“We will cooperate only on the programmes that will be worked out and approved jointly,” Belarus's representative to the EU noted among other initiatives hinting at the Dialogue on Modernization programme.

Interfax news agency reports Yeudachenka said when the Dialogue on Modetnization was proposed, “the EU was supposed to develop this programme in close cooperation with our country”. “Another condition was that the programme would be oriented on the Belarusian governmental bodies and at the same time on the Belarusian society,” he continued. The Permanent Representative of Belarus to the EU said, “none of these options was fulfilled by the EU.” “Belarus was not invited to develop the prorgamme, and the state bodies were included in the project on leftover principle,” Yeudachenka said.

“We have repeatedly said we would not agree on such variants of cooperation,” the official said noting the need of applying joint efforts to develop and approve the EU projects for Belarus.
