Pavel Sevyarynets: Judgement to Dashkevich is judgement to all of us

Political prisoner Pavel Sevyarynets, a co-head of the Belarusian Christian Democracy party, comments on a new sentence for the Young Front leader.

“'Trial over Dashkevich is a very serious thing. Firstly, the concept 'expiration of a prison term' will no longer applied to political prisoners. Political prisoners will exist as long as the regime exists. Some of them will perhaps stay in prison as long as Lukashenka stays in power. It is a signal and a judgement to all prisoners of conscience.

Secondly, it is a jugement to the society. A young national leader, present-day Kalinouski and religious person, Zmitser Dashkevich sacrifices everything and bears his cross in prison while people outside prison have 'elections'. What is needed is our prayer and actions of solidarity across the country. I call to hold an urgent round table discussion on Dashkevich's case and article 411. Freedom to Dashkevich! Freedom to Belarus!” the political prisoner told Narodnaya Volya newspaper.
