Nothing to add if the most massive Belarusian groups in "Vkontakte" have the most high-profile names: "We have enough of this Lukashenka" and "Only the ShOS". He certainly caused great annoyance, if the most popular acronym in the country is ShOS, which less violent people decrypt as "Let him be imprisoned" and the one who is tired of ceremonies - "Let him die".
Yesterday, security forces made a real raid against Internet activists. At first, they have removed tens of thousands of participants from undesired groups. Then they started to catch moderators one by one. One of those who did not fall into the hands of the KGB yesterday, gave us an interview, standing on the window sill, and jumped out of the window, when the KGB officers began to break in the door.
Authorities once again show their fear of the possibility of mobilizing people through the Internet. The first attack was taken by charter97.org, which survived multiple searches and seizures, arrest of the editor and assassination of the founder. But the site has continued to work abroad, becoming even more popular.
On August 30, intelligence agencies have conducted a second raid against the activists of social networks. The first one was conducted in the summer of last year, when "silent" protests were held all over the country. That time moderators also were being arrested, one tried to recruit them, many had to flee abroad. There were even adopted scandalous amendments to the law on mass events, according which without the permission of the authorities it is forbidden to announce even a flashmob via Internet.
This fall, due to the upcoming challenges in the economy, the authorities fear a repetition of last year's scenario where thousands of Belarusians were mobilized via the internet and came out to protest on the streets.
However, despite the efforts of the KGB in conducting special operations against the network activists, the "Elusive Avengers" continue to create more and more opposition groups with tough names and get a huge number of participants in a short time. Only after the first day after the "clean-up" the group, "We have enough of this Lukashenka" has brought together several thousand subscribers.
So, the country dictatorship cannot cope with the Internet based "ninth wave". And no KGB, OAC, and other trash will not help. If we really have enough of this Lukashenka, it seems that there is only ShOS. No options.
