Belarusian politicians are commenting on the elections results.
The leader of the United Civic Party Anatol Liabedzka called the fact that majority of the Belarusians haven’t showed up for the elections a demonstration of distrust to the authorities, "Radio Svaboda" reports.
“In fact we have a situation a vote of no confidence expressed not only towards the electoral system, but to the authorities, which organize the system, as well. Myself I showed up at the polling station at 20 minutes to eight, which greatly surprised the people there. I looked through the voters list of around 15 names and only 4 of them had voted. This was my goal, I said thank you and took my passport. One of the commission’s administrators said in annoyance: “That is your fault that people didn’t show up. You took off the elections”. Then I had to say everything I thought about the situation. This peculiar incident with me and the data that we received from the observers tells that de-facto these elections weren’t successful”, - Liabedzka said.
Anatol Liabedzka said, that it’s possible to draw number in Belarus and one is never punished for that:
“The lying practice is already a business card of the authorities. These are lies, manipulations, and falsifications. And this is the answer to the question why they wouldn’t allow their opponents to the electoral commissions, why the political censorship wouldn’t allow even these 5-minute TV and radio addresses. This is a complete discredit to the electoral system in Belarus. It’s a dead-end”.
