Freedom Day forbidden in Mahilou

Mahilou’s authorities have not allowed to celebrate the Freedom Day. The reason for the refusal is that the event was not included in the yearly plan.

Such a response Mahilou’s democrats received from the head of the ideology department if the local city executive committee Ala Halushka, Euroradio reports.

On 10 March three activists of Mahilou’s democratic movement – Yury Novikau, Dzmitry Salaujou and Siarhei Famin – applied for organizing a festivity in the city center with dances, songs and the reciting of poetry. The activists wanted the authorities to also join the celebration of the 95th anniversary of Belarus People Republic’s foundation.

Yury Novikau called the refusal to hold festive celebrations in the city center a savagery. According to him, only the authorities can behave this way, which do not remember their roots and family.
