Death of KGB officer not instigated so far

The inquiry into the suicide of KGB Lieutenant Colonel Alyaksandr Kazak continues.

The process takes a long time due to a large number of expert examinations.

Radio Svaboda has learnt it from the Instigative Committee of Belarus.

The investigation is carried out by officers of the Investigative Committee and the Prosecutor General's Office.

It should be reminded that KGB officer Alyaksandr Kazak was found dead in a forest in October 2012. The information was received from members of Peizazh housing association near Zhdanovichy.

On November 9, 2012, Alyaksandr Lukashenka dismissed Belarusian KGB chief Vadzim Zaitsau. It happened on the day of a meeting to discuss the KGB activity.

The state secretary of the Security Council of Belarus, Leanid Maltsau, said after the meeting that the prosecutor general and the Investigation Committee chief had raised many questions, also regarding the suicide of KGB Lieutenant Colonel Alyaksandr Kazak.

Alyaksandr Kazak, 47, worked in the KGB directorate for Minsk and the Minsk region. He was the head of the Minsk inter-district department. The KGB and the Investigation Committee refused to confirm the suicide in the beginning.
