Authorities don't want to hear about political prisoners

Members of the European Parliament can be allowed to enter Belarus only if they don't talk about political prisoners.

“The main thing is to understand why a delegation of European Parliament members really wants to visit our country in June,” Valyantina Lyavonenka, a member of the international affairs commission in the “house of representative” said to Euroradio.

“We are ready to have meetings and listen to proposals and remarks and see intentions to help solve some particular situations. But if the visit looks like, as they always telling us, 'Free political prisoners and we will talk', why should they come? We already know their stance,” the member of the “house of representatives” said.

It should be reminded that EP's rapporteur on Belarus Justas Paleckis, who visited Minsk on March 18-21, said a delegation of the European Parliament planned to pay a visit to the country in June.

According to Euroradio, the delegation may demand the Belarusian authorities to allow a meeting with political prisoners. It will be real reason for the visit, Valyantina Lyavonenka is confident. It's possible in this case that they will not be welcomed in Belarus.
