Polish MFA intervenes with situation of Polish citizen restricted to leave Belarus

The Polish MFA calls on the Belarusian authorities to humanly settle the situation of Tereza Strzelec.

Marcin Bosacki, the Polish MFA spokesman, said to journalists in Warsaw that the Polish Foreign Ministry was “too late” informed about the situation of Tereza Strzelec, who has not been allowed to leave Belarus for the last month.

He added the MFA received information about Strzelec's problem only on March 6 this year, though the story began in April 2012. “If we had known about the situation earlier, we would have recommended Strzelec not to go to Belarus again,” Polskie Radio quotes Bosacki. According to him, the Polish MFA takes all diplomatic measures calling on the Belarusian authorities to settle the situation “humanly”. The Embassy of Poland in Minsk sent a note on Strzelec's fate to the Belarusian MFA and a representative of the Polish MFA met with the Belarusian ambassador in Warsaw to discuss the situation. According to Polskie Radio, Jaroslaw, Tereza Strzelec's husband, said to journalists his wife told him on the phone she had run out of medicines she took after pancreatic surgery.
