MEP Migalski initiates “Lukashenka, Puck you!” action

A session of the International Ice Hockey Federation starts in Stockholm next week.

In the course of the meeting, which will take place from 16 to 19 May, the issue of holding the World Championship 2014 in Belarus may be raised again.

A Polish MEP Marek Migalski, who since the beginning of 2012 has been carrying out a campaign for holding the 2014 competition in a different country, intends to use the opportunity to address the federation’s president Rene Fasel.

Migalski’s office together with a Swedish human rights organization Östgruppen are planning to picket the IIHF office in Stockholm on 18 May.

“We do not agree with the fact that such big sporting events are about to be held in Europe’s last dictatorship”, - Marek Migalski stated.

The “Lukashenka, Puck you!” campaign starts today. The organizers invite everyone to join a Facebook group https://www.facebook.com/groups/456007324484303/ , where all the information may be found on how to support the initiative.

Everyone can express their solidarity with the people of Belarus and a protest against the championship in the country.
