Swedish human rights activists call to cancel ice hockey world championship in Minsk.

The website of Östgruppen, a Swedish human rights organisation, reports that an action demanding to move the 2014 ice hockey championship from Belarus to another country was held in Stockholm on May 17.

Östgruppen activists were handing out leaflets with information about the campaign “Don't Play with the Dictator” against holding the IIHF world championship in Belarus.

The congress of the International Ice Hockey Federation is held in Stockholm these days. A question of the ice hockey world championship in Minsk is likely to be raised at the congress.

IIHF President René Fasel and head of the Belarusian Ice Hockey Federation Yauheny Vorsin refused to take leaflets.
