Boris Nemtsov: «Lukashism» gripped Russia

Alyaksandr Lukashenka has sucked $100 billion out of Russia in the past 19 years.

Boris Nemtsov, co-chairman of the Republican Party of Russia – People’s Freedom Party (RPR-PARNAS), told about it reporters in Vilnius, Lithuania, on Friday while speaking about the Customs Union of Belarus, Russia and Kazakhstan.

"On the one hand, a common market is a good thing, but on the other hand, I regard the Customs Union as an ambitious imperial project rather than an economic one,” Mr. Nemtsov said. “I think that Russia pays too much for it."

"I know how much Russia pays Lukashenka for his love," he said. "Every year Russia subsidizes Lukashenka’s regime to the amount of $6 billion through low oil and gas prices.… Lukashenka treats Russia as a milch cow…. He has sucked $100 billion out of it in the 19 years that he has been in power…. And the most important thing is that this money does not go to the Belarusian people but to the KGB and secret services, and for strengthening his own power and the repressive apparatus in Belarus."
