President of Laos arrives to buy weapons?

Choummaly Sayasone was shown the samples of armament in service with the Belarusian Armed Forces.

He also studied new developments and products of the Belarusian military industry, BelTA news agency reports.

The official delegation of the Lao People’s Democratic Republic led by the country's president Choummaly Sayasone visited the Military Academy of Belarus. The guests took a guided tour of the country's leading university, saw its structure, tasks and the personnel training system. The delegation saw the operational and tactical training centre and an exhibition performance by the cadets of the military intelligence department.

At the research test site of the Military Academy the delegation got familiar with the samples of armament and military equipment in service with the Belarusian army and research developments and innovations of the state military and industrial complex of Belarus.

It worth noting that the Hmong ethnic group has been fighting against the Lao government in Laos. The conflict is poorly covered by the world media. The problem goes back to the Vietnamese War, when a large number of Hmong people supported the American army. About 300,000 Hmong people still living in Laos suffer from discrimination. Bloody clashes sometimes occur in the region. The government calls the rebels bandits.
