Catastrophic decline in industrial production in Minsk

Industrial enterprises of the Belarusian capital are pulling the country's economy down.

The National Statistics Committee has published today the main socio-economic indicators for Minsk in the first half of 2013.

Minsk's industrial output decreased 19% in January-June compared to the same period in 2012 and reached Br55.6 trillion. Finished goods inventory on July 1, 2013, reached Br9.245 trillion, which is 125.4% of the average monthly output.

A drop in the gross regional product was recorded in Minsk – it fell 0.5% for the first six months of the year.

The country's industrial production for the first six months of 2013 decreased 4.2% compared to the same period last year. Finished goods inventory was Br31,263.4 billion, or 78.1% of the average monthly industrial output. The gross domestic product rose 1.4% in the first half of the year.
