Shake-up in Ministry of Justice

A departmental head and a deputy head at the Ministry of Justice have been detained by the State Security Committee (KGB).

The KGB press service says a bribe-giver, a founder of a private construction company in Minsk, was also detained.

“The preliminary investigation has revealed that officials of the Ministry of Justice repeatedly received illegal monetary rewards for their help in solving the issues falling under their competence and relating to their professional duties.

A criminal case over part 2 of article 430 of the Criminal Code (accepting a bribe by a group of people) has been initiated by the KGB against the corrupted officials. A criminal case under part 1 of article 431 (giving a bribe) has been initiated against the founder of the firm,” the press-release says.

Other investigative and search procedures aimed at revealing and recording other counts of illegal activity of the suspects are being carried out.
