Belarus will prepare soldiers for Cambodia

Cambodia wants to train its soldiers on the basis of Belarus’ Military Academy.

A member of the House of Representatives’ standing commission on national security, a cadreman and an air defense specialist Zygmund Valevach reported about that, according to BelTA.

“I think, the preparation of Cambodian military personnel is possible here in the nearest future”, - the parliament member said. According to him, the visit of a Belarusian delegation, headed by the chairman of the House of Representatives Uladzimir Andrejchanka, to Cambodia in February this year contributed to the development of cooperation in the area.

Zygmund Valevach, who was a member of the Belarusian parliamentary delegation, told that various areas of cooperation of the two countries were discussed during the visit, among which there were the perspectives of military and military engineering cooperation. At the same time Cambodia is not only interested in preparing specialists for its army in Belarus, but also in the modernization of military equipment with the service of Belarusian enterprises.

Then the dictatorial Khmer Rouge regime was established there under the leadership of Pol Pot. The regime is accused of the assassination of several million of the country’s residents.
