Labkovich and Raviaka fined 3mn

Activists of Viasna human rights centre were accused of violating the order of organising and holding mass events.

Judge Dzmitry Pauliuchenka issued a fine of 30 penalty units to Uladzimir Labkovich. The human rights activist was found guilty of violating part 1 of article 23.34 of the Code of Administrative offences. Uladzimir Labkovich's actions were classified by the court as a picket with handing out postcards,” Viasna human rights centre writes.

Judge Maryna Fiodarava fined Tatsiana Raviaka 30 penalty units.

Tatsiana Raviaka and Uladzimir Labkovich were detained on August 5 as they were handing out postcards depicting political prisoner Ales Bialiatski. They were taken to the Savetski district police department and charged with violating the order of organizing and holding mass event (article 23.34 of the Code of Administrative Offences). Their mobile phones were taken away.

The police reports contained some errors, so the judges had sent them back for revision.
