Picket against infill construction in Military Town (Video)

A picket in front of the City Officers House was held in Minsk's district Military Town on August 5.

As charter97.org has learnt, among protesters were local residents and members of initiative groups “Uruchye 2” and “Kalinin Street”.

Picketers protested against destroying green spaces in Minsk, in particular against cutting down old trees for construction of an Audi Centre in the Military Town district, and against ignoring public opinions by the municipal authorities. The picket gathered 15 participants and lasted for 30 minutes.

Police officers didn't interfere, but asked one of the picketers, Viachaslau Pilipuk, to go to a local police station to give explanations. He was set free later. No police reports were drawn up.
