Granit plant: Provocations go on

A new wave of provocations has began against the independent trade union committee on Granit plant.

Anonymous authors spread information on local internet forums and on websites of Mikashevichy and Luninets that trade union activists receive money and instructions from abroad to discredit Granit plant, Radio Racyja reports.

Aleh Stakhayevich, the head of the trade union committee on Granit plant, says it may be a reaction to concessions the plant authorities had to make under pressure from the trade union:

“These improvements relating to wages are temporary. This issue is not formalised in the collective employment agreement. We have no more strength to control implementation of the agreement. The official trade union has never dealt with it. It is another moment for employees to see that together we cannot be defeated. Together we are able to achieve radical changes for the better.”

Independent trade union activists prepare for a court hearing over dismissal of Leanid Dubanosau. The court proceedings began in July, but a judge postponed the process until September 10.
