Pharmacies are forbidden to sell Theraflu

Public Health Ministry has obliged pharmacies to buy the domestic ORVIcold medicine instead of the imported Theraflu.

Belarusian pharmacies must buy the domestic medicine ORVIcold instead of getting carried away by mass purchases of the imported Theraflu medicine, Belarus’ Public Health Ministry believes.

In the run-up to the epidemiological period, when there is high demand for anti-catarrhal medicines, Belarus’ Public Health Ministry has sent an information letter to pharmacies, obliging them to purchase the domestic ORVIcold medicine, which is an analogue of the famous imported Theraflu medicine, Ezhednevnik reports.

According to the letter, in the storehouses of the domestic producer Lekfarm there is a medicine for preventing and curing seasonal respiratory infections ORVIcold, which is a powder for making a liquid solution.

“The medicine ORVIcold acts as a febrifuge, anti-inflammatory, anti-edematous, pain killing and antihistamine medicine”, - the Public Health Ministry’s letter says.

“Compared to the foreign synonym (Theraflu Extra medicine), the domestic medicine ORVIcold is affordable to broad segments of the people.

We would like to turn your special attention that this medicine is included in to the part III of the list of the medicines made in Belarus (Russia) obligatory to be available in pharmacies regardless of the pattern of ownership”, - the Public Health Ministry informs.
