Uralkali CEO was placed in a three-room flat in Minsk.
“It is a rather big flat. He doesn't complain about conditions. Belarusian lawyers say he feels good,” Vladislav Baumgertner's Russian lawyer Alexei Basistov told Radio Svaboda. “Vladislav cannot leave the flat and use communication tools.”
“The letter from his mother to Lukashenka was delivered in Minsk the day before yesterday. It was a personal message, not a procedural document. I don't know if Aliaksandr Lukashenka read it. Nor do I know if it had an impact on changing the pretrial restriction for Vladislav,” Basistov said.
Baumgertner's mother arrived in Minsk yesterday, because he was promised orally she could meet with her son. She is now in the flat where her son serves house arrest.
Russian law-enforcement bodies have not contacted Basistov yet. He doesn't know if any investigative actions are carried out in Russia.
Uralkali CEO Vladislav Baumgertner was suddenly released from the KGB detention facility and put under house arrest on the night of September 26. He and his mother are in a rented flat chosen by KGB officers.
Vladislav Baumgertner was detained on August 26 and charged with abuse of power and inflicting damage of 100 million dollars. He had been in the KGB jail until September 26.
