Retirement pension not for everyone

Retirement pension will only be paid to those Belarusians, who made contributions to the social security fund for over 10 years.

The new ruling is established by Lukashenka’s decree number 389 as of 3 September 2013.

According to the document, “starting from 1 January 2014 the right for a retirement pension and service pension will only be granted on the condition that obligatory insurance payments were made to the social security fund of the Ministry of Labour and Social Security according to the legislation on state social security for no less than 10 years”.

We would remind that this threshold was on the level of 5 year before.

The document also notes that the decision has been taken with the purpose of “rationalization of state’s social security expenses”.
