Twelve Belarusians, who were detained after a football match at Barysau-Arena, have been tried.

Human rights defender Maryna Statkevich from Viasna human rights centre told charter97,org that Belarusian citizens and seven Ukrainians were tried. The Belarusians were fined.

“Six Ukrainians were sentenced to 5 days in custody and one to 10 days for stickers with a Celtic cross, which is considered to be a fascist symbol, on stickers. All of them have higher education, some graduated from two universities. One detained fan writes a research paper. They are educated people. All of them were charged of swearing (article 17.1 of the administrative code). None of them was swearing. Only one girl said she had used obscenities.

The Belarusians fans were tried. Twelve persons were fined 600,000 rubles,” she said.
